Golden Alexanders should be in every garden! Easy to grow from seed, it blooms for several weeks in late spring to early summer when many other plants have yet to flower. This is also an important plant to a number of pollinators and it is a host plant for the Black Swallowtail whose caterpillars will feed on its thick, deep green leaves. Zizia aurea tolerates quite a bit of shade but prefers full sun to part shade.
